Madaba city is located 33 km south of Amman. Its known as City of Mosaics and important Christian pilgrim’s route including Mount Nebo and Jordan River to Jerusalem.


It is now inhabited by Christian and Muslims a like and an example for religious tolerance between Christian and Muslim in Jordan. In Madaba you can find the loomed large number of churches over the city and the Greek Orthodox Basilica of Saint George church is the most important one which were built in the 6th century with its various mosaics map with two million pieces of Cleary colored local stone showing depiction of Jerusalem and parts of the Holy Land back to Byzantine times. Also, you can see the Archaeological Park, to the remains of several Byzantine churches, including the amazing mosaics Church of the Virgin Mary.
